A Weekday Outing

One of the great things about our nanny share situation (as opposed to more traditional daycare) is that Ian gets to be out and about a lot, taking advantage of all the cool things to do in our area. He and Maeve go to gym class on Tuesday, music class on Wednesday, and storytime at the library on Thursday. They also get out to the museum, the many local parks, and the Duke campus. Lisa is great about looking for interesting things to do with them. Recently they've been focusing on trees and signs of spring -- looking at pictures of trees, drawing trees, and going out to look at trees and flowers.

Last Thursday, they went to storytime and then stopped at the nearby Eno River State Park, a beautiful forest with a river and some historic structures. This is the kind of thing that Ian loves right now (rocks, water, sticks, dirt - what could be better?). Lisa sent pictures from their outing:

First the library:

Then lots of exploring at the park. Hmm . . . which way?:

This way!:

What shall we do next, Maeve?:

Explore the old mill!:

This reminds me of the Pooh story in which they watch things floating down the river from the bridge:

Sticks! (You may notice the makeshift bandage on Ian's hand in these photos -- he suffered a scrape on his finger when he fell on a big rock and could not catch himself because his hands were full of little rocks. It's not nearly as bad as this bandage makes it look!):

I am amazed that Lisa was able to get all three of them in one photo:
