Piggy Baby

Lukas must be going through a growth spurt. He is eating more food than I ever thought a baby was capable of. He's had three full solid-food meals so far today in addition to nursing, including:

Sweet potato purée
Applesauce
Blueberry/pear purée
Prune purée
Carrot purée
A cup of plain yogurt
Hard-boiled egg
Three servings of rotini
Two slices of cheddar cheese
Lots of Cheerios
LOTS of freeze dried strawberries (his favorite)
A cup of oatmeal
A bowl of peas
Half a banana

. . . and he's still hungry! He exclaims loudly and demandingly "Ah! Ahhh!" if I don't feed him fast enough. He will no longer use the "more" sign, preferring more caveman-like methods. He sometimes lunges forward quickly with mouth open towards the spoon -- at times do fast that he ends up with an eyeful of baby food.

He has tried several finger food strategies -- at first, whatever he could manage. Then he spent a couple weeks carefully perfecting his pincer grip. Then he abandoned that and tried to shove handfuls into his mouth at once. Now he's moved on to putting his mouth right on the high chair tray and eating directly, hands free.
