We've mostly been posting about activities and events lately, but we've been meaning to collect some of the funny/memorable/clever things Ian does on a daily basis. There's quite a backlog to catch up on, so we'll add as we remember things. Now that we've got an iPhone app for the blog we can be better about keeping up.
- Ian, after pulling papers put of recycling and spreading them all over my bed: "I'm checking my email!"
- On Friday I arrived to pick Ian up and was told that he and his friend Janicki had agreed to meet at the park after school at 6pm. This is the first time he made his own social arrangements.
- Sometimes he asks us to hold him like a baby, and he says, "I'm just a baby, I don't know any stuff. Goo."
- In the morning, when I usually want to sleep longer then Ian, he asks, "Are we getting up Mommy?". When I say yes but don't immediately leap out of bed, he says, "Then get up!!".
- Ian loves pasta, but when I made pasta primavera a few weeks ago he said he didn't want it and wouldn't even taste it. When we asked him why he said, "because there's yucky things on my plate."
- After a rather difficult naptime routine with me one afternoon when Doug wasn't around, Ian cried from his room as he resisted sleep, "Mommy, I'm angry, I'm frustrating!". Yes, Ian, sometimes you are.
- One night this week he went to bed calmly, but we could hear him talking in his room for quite a while (perhaps to one of his babies in bed). I stopped by his door to listen and heard him listing off all his friends, "Maeve is sleeping, and Cameron is sleeping, and Silas is sleeping, and Janicki is sleeping, and Suzan is sleeping, and Madeline is sleeping, and Hannah is sleeping, . . . "

Love these. Regarding listing everyone else who is sleeping, that is something that I started routinely doing with Sasha a couple of months ago after we pray at bedtime! Funny to hear Ian came up with it too! (guess I am almost as smart as a 2 year old!) It's now the last thing we do with Sasha before leaving her room- we list all her friends and anyone else we saw that day. She insists that the list end with her favorite friend, DJ.
