More about Ian

Ian has been up to all kinds of interesting things lately, some of which we've captured on camera.

He got a large truck quilt in one of his periodic boxes from Hermit Thrush (thrift store extraordinaire). Doug put it over his bed to make a tent, which Ian likes. When Doug was out of town and I was in charge of bedtime, I found it hard to get this tent to stay up, so I rigged it so it's tied to the bedframe, and now it is a lovely "peekaboo tent" (Ian's term):

Lilo is definitely Ian's favorite dog -- odd, since she was mostly afraid of kids before Ian, and Zrbrt is super friendly. Zrbrt is too friendly for Ian, and he doesn't like how she gets in his face. The shy Lilo is a more passive recipient of his affections.

Here he is snuggled up with her. He often gives her kisses and knows to be gentle. Sometime they have conversations. "Are you hungry Lilo? Yes, or no?":

Tonight he put a dusk mask on Lilo (which he got from Doug's office, more on that later). She put up with it begrudgingly. He said "How cool is that, Lilo? Do you love it?" I'm sure she loves it.:

Ian has been playing with his potty. Here he happily wore it as a hat while doing a puzzle:

And this was his response when I asked him to put his shoes on:

On a more serious note, Ian had his first potty success last night! He was at Madeline's house while we were at a play. Madeline practiced sitting on the potty before bed. Apparently Ian asked to go, sat on the toilet, and went! I asked him about it at church this morning once I got the email from Madeline's mom. Me: "Ian, Madeline's mommy said that you went pee pee in the potty last night!" Ian: "yes." Me: "That's pretty cool!" Ian: "Thank you Mommy". We'll see where it goes from here.

I see his face is healing nicely. If he is like his uncle he may not use the potty again for a month but I would think that now that he has used it once it is the beginning of frequent use.
