Ian reached (in his mind) a very important landmark this week - he can reach the handle above the car door from his car seat. He has always wanted to do this and has been frustrated that he's not big enough. At a stop sign on the way to school this week, Ian gleefully announced that he could reach the handle and said, "I'm a little bit big now!"
Ian continues to speculate about things that will happen in the future, though sometimes with an interesting twist.
- This morning on the way to school Ian saw a black dog that reminded him of the neighbor's dog, Roxie. He said, "Someday I will be Roxie, and you will be Ken (Roxie's owner). And Daddy will be Winston and Greg will be Tate (Ken's children)." Ok.
- Earlier this week Ian said, "Someday I will be big and I will drive the car, and you will be smaller and you will sit in the carseat." I have never considered the possibility that I might grow smaller.
- Yesterday Lilo was in the car with me when I picked Ian up at school (having walked with me to the mechanic's shop to pick the car up on the way). Ian was eager to show off his ability to reach the handle. He said, "It's ok, Lilo. Someday you will be bigger and you will reach the handle!"

I love the "someday you will be bigger and can reach the handle"! I can totally see one of mine saying that.
I suppose you could always get osteoporosis in old age and shrink, become a brittle, frail hunchback. But even then I'm not sure you would fit in the car seat! Still, I'm glad Ian is already thinking about taking care of you in your old age:)
these are my favorite posts! ross loves them too.
