- Ian had a bit of a rough night - got up at 4:30 AM, had to be fed, went back to sleep. This is very much the exception rather than the rule. Daddy has displayed masterful ability in getting Ian to go to sleep - both for naps and for bed. Mommy sometimes attempts, but most of the time calls for authoritah, and Daddy gently but firmly brings order.
- Later on in the morning, we all (sans doggies) went for a short canoe trip down the French Broad River. We chose quite a short trip because we were worried that if Ian didn't enjoy it, a longer trip would seem to be intolerably long.
-Here is Ianite with his paddle (which he dropped into the water several times, whereupon the skilled stern paddler, a.k.a. Daddy, would swiftly retrieve it without breaking stroke).

-While he did quite well on the water, Ian's patience for photos was severely limited...

...but he did make time for playing on the playground owned by the rafting/paddling company.

-We then all (again, sans Doggies, as Zrbrt is fond of pointing out) went to Carrier Park, which houses a playground, lawn bowling green, roller hockey rink, and, in keeping with the theme of eclectic sports venues, a 0.5 km outdoor bicycle velodrome. Daddy rode there last night, and enjoyed it enough that he did another ride today, watched for a little while from the observation arch by Mommy and Ianite (Daddy is doing just a shade under 25 mph as he whizzes by):
