Ian's Yard

Our back yard, which is divided by the cob wall into a section primarily for Ian and a section primarily for the dogs (obviously Doug and I get a bad deal), is now in a close to complete state. As expected, everything came together all at once and it went from being an eternal construction zone to being a lovely space. Ian has been spending a lot of time playing in his yard (despite the heat and, this afternoon, the fact that it rained the whole time we were out). Most of his time is spend moving mulch around, using his shovel to fill his dump truck and then dumping the mulch in another place in the yard. He also likes to play with his water table and ride his tricycle in the yard. We're thinking about what other features to add to his area -- maybe a sandbox (although mulch might fill this role), a low treehouse, and a small raised garden in the one bit of the yard that gets sun (in general the shade is a great thing because we don't have to worry about sunscreen). We'll get some good still photos later, but here is a quick video from today to give a sense of what Ian's area looks like:

The ball in "Andee's yard" is one that went over the fence. Our neighbor tossed it back over this afternoon, probably for the first of many times . . .

It looks a lot different (and better) than when I was there in March.
