While I was in the kitchen preparing a snack for Ian tonight, I heard from his room that he was reading the first part of Curious George Gets a Job to himself. I snuck through the living room to get my phone and caught him partway through (fortunately he continued reading even though he clearly knew I was there). It's a little hard to understand him in this clip, but you can hear him say the following (which I think are verbatim excerpts from the book):
"When the painters come back they opened the door."
"Poor little George, he forgot that the pavement was hard as stone."
At this point there is a picture of George with a broken leg, crying (because he jumped off a fire escape like in the jungle but forgot about the pavement). You can see Ian lean over to give him a kiss.

This is the cutest thing ever. I am very happy to see his compassion and caring for others - characters in books, the dogs, his friends, us.
This is a really nice video clip. It is clear and Ian speaks quite distinctly. Obviously he knew he was being taped since he looked right at the camera at the beginning. He is becoming a very nice person.
Love it! He is growing up so fast!!!
