This year we had Thanksgiving by ourselves at home. It's sad to miss seeing our families on Thanksgiving, but nice to be able to relax, not travel, and have a laid-back day with just our little family. We spent the morning doing some housework, took a family walk with the dogs to enjoy the gorgeous weather at noon, then spent the afternoon cooking and eating Thanksgiving dinner.
Actually, Ian slept through the first part of Thanksgiving dinner (and, more importantly, the preceding hour of cooking). We were thankful for some quiet time to have an uninterrupted conversation. We were also thankful when he woke up before dessert, so that we could share the holiday with him.
As an aside, I want to say how proud I am of our dog Lilo, shown below staying dutifully in her bed in the corner
next to a table full of food. Those of you who know Lilo will understand how much of an accomplishment this is for our little pig-dog. I know, via spying from the kitchen, that she even stayed in her bed while she was in the room alone with the turkey. We've worked hard on this. Yay, Lilo! Also, credit goes to Doug for making this whole feast himself. It was perhaps the most delicious Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. As he said, the mashed potatoes were the highlight of the year:

Enter Ian. Here he is, having just awoken from his nap, contemplating his Thanksgiving dinner:

Trying it out:

I noticed that I haven't posted in a while. This is because I haven't taken a lot of photos. Below is one reason why -- when I get the camera out, Ian gets distracted from what he's doing and wants to take it from me, so I get a lot of shots like this:

Laughing as Daddy comes up behind him with dessert:

Intrigued by his first piece of pie:

As always with Ian's meals these days, half the fun is trying different ways to handle the food. Ian narrates:
Hmmm, I could go with the standby finger food method:
But I really find the fork much more interesting:
How silly I am to pick up such a big piece of pie all at once!:
I wonder if I can actually stuff this in my mouth?:

Did he eventually eat the pie? Did he like it? Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving.
