Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Last night Grandma and Grandpa Allen arrived for a visit. Today they took care of Ian all day while I went to work. He spent a lot of time at the museum this afternoon as well as doing a bunch of things around the house.

Courtesy of great-grandma, Ian learned about something new and interesting last night - stickers! Great-grandma sent a bunch of smiley face stickers which Ian is fascinated with. He likes to have them stuck onto him, after which he takes them off, hands them to us, and signs "More" - i.e. do it again (he's using this sign quite a lot lately - he is a boy who knows what he wants!):

Here he is enjoying (?) lunch before his museum visit. Making this face, he looks a lot like his Daddy when he was a similar age (and appropriately, he is wearing his Star Wars t-shirt, which Aunt Julie sent knowing that Doug is likely to instill in Ian an appreciation for the galaxy far, far away):

On to the museum! He has always loved the rake (and sometimes has to be forcibly removed from it in order to see other parts of the museum), but for the first time today he went into the sandbox. Here he is, getting dirty:

Another first, he played on the climbing equipment, which he hasn't shown much interest in before:

And here, Ian enjoys the mist in an outdoor part of the museum he visited for the first time:

Tomorrow: more fun with Grandma and Grandpa while Mommy and Daddy escape to stay in a bed and breakfast a few miles away -- the first time Ian and I will have been apart for a night, ever!
