Today Ian had his 15 month checkup. He got four vaccines (including the seasonal flu), which he took pretty well (although he absolutely refused to leave the crayon-shaped bandaids on). He weighs 28 pounds 5 ounces and is 32 inches long. This puts him close to the 90th percentile on both accounts. The doctor is guessing that "genetics is kicking in" as he rises to the top of the distribution once again.
Ian has overcome his mild anemia as a result of the iron supplements we've been giving him (thank goodness we're done with that!), and we confirmed that his blood lead level is still well below the limit of concern (reassuring for a mother who is trying to avoid paranoia living in a historic house). His only problem is eczema, which he has developed over the past week or so. It's quite severe in the bends of his arms and is milder over the rest of his torso and upper legs. This could explain why he has been having trouble sleeping the last several days and has had bouts of unusual irritability. Hopefully the prescription cream will help clear it up. Doug and I have realized that there should be a word for the bends of the arm (elpit?).
As Ian continues to be a heavy boy for his age (I'm always amazed when I pick up other kids his age and they feel like nothing - picking up Ian feels like my back is breaking), and Lilo continues to be a little dog who needs to lose some pounds, and Zrbrt has too much energy for a dog whose yard isn't fenced yet, and my knees are starting to hurt from carrying Ian on my back during our walks with the dogs each day, I'm looking into getting a jogging stroller. New adventures with boy, dogs, and myself running through the city to come . . .
