Ian Meets a Bear

Ian and I went to the museum this afternoon, not knowing that it would be a special trip. Ian's favorite babysitter, Erin, is a musician by night and a museum animal keeper by day. We got to see her give the keeper talk about the red wolves at the museum, after which she took us on a backstage tour to the bear house. Here Ian got to see a black bear really close up.

Here Gus is lumbering over to investigate the peanut butter smell wafting from the bear house:

And here Ian is looking on happily while Gus enjoys an afternoon snack. Really cool to see this big animal so close up!:

After visiting the bears and then the lemurs, we got to ride back to the main building in Erin's golfcart, to which Ian said "Wheeeeee!"

Awesome. Gives a whole new meaning to feed them to the wolves or bears. Wolves, golfcarts and bears. Not bad for a boy being brought up in an urban setting. There's hope for him yet become a nature aficionado.
