Christmas, Part II

Grandma and Grandpa McVey, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Eli have arrived in Durham for the week, bringing with them Christmas ... Part 2.

Ian's big gift from Grammie and Pa was a rocking horse. We're excited about this gift that fits right in with the kind of things we acquire these days -- well crafted, beautiful, useful, and something Ian will be able to use for a while.

Ian was very curious about the horsie and inspected it from all angles:

With some assistance, he took his first ride:

Although he was a bit hesistant about riding the horse initially (we expect he'll grow into this over the next few months), he did really enjoy rocking it himself. Here he has rocked it so hard it scooted into the tree. His face shows the effort he put into it:

In was also enthralled with this rotating animal lamp from Grandpa McVey (they seem to share several interests, see below):

As is typical for toddlers, Ian enjoyed the non-present parts of Christmas presents as much as the presents themselves. He had fun climbing on the big box:

Embraced his role as present-distributor:

And was also happy to help put the used wrapping paper in the box (and out, and in, and out, and in):

Ian also spent some time observing as the rest of us opened gifts:

Grandpa McVey has an appreciation of silly Christmas gifts:

He and Ian both had a lot of fun with this voice distorter:

And Ian appreciated the bubbles he brought! ("Wheeeee!"):

More Christmas II photos still to come . . .
