Hangin' with Auntie Erin
Now that we are reasonably settled in our new house, we've gotten back to our weekly date nights. To facilitate this, we have "Auntie" Erin, long time dog/house/Ian walker/sitter and friend. Erin works at the museum in Durham, so she's nearby on weekdays, and has been coming over every Thursday evening to hang with Ian while we go out. Ian screamed bloody murder when we left this week, but clearly recovered quickly and enjoyed himself as is evidenced by these pictures Erin took:

We know that his unhappiness when a parent leaves does not last long. In August when we took care of Ian in Washington while Elaine went to her conference we would take him in the stroller with Elaine to the conference site, she would say goodbye, he would cry for about ten seconds and then all was fine again as we strollered back to the hotel. Is this just a show kids put on so their parents feel either guilty or irreplaceable?
In the first picture, a train was going by outside so he was saying, "Choo choo!". In the second picture, the dogs were barking at the train, so he was saying, "Woof woof!". In the last picture, I had just told a hilarious joke.
