Great and Grand

While we were in Binghamton, Ian also met his Great-great Aunt Linda, my grandmother's sister who lives down the street. We reflected on the inconsistency in the naming system. My grandmother and Linda are the same generation, but as an aunt she gets two "greats", and my grandmother gets one "great" and a "grand". Strange.



UPDATE:
Once we arrived in Syracuse, Ian also got to meet his Great Aunt Ann (just one great), my father's sister. She drove in from Utica to see him. She is an interesting lady, who has become ordained as an Episcopal priest in her 70's, after a long career as an English teacher. Unfortunately we forgot to take a photo . . .
