Now, three weeks after Ian's birth, our little family of five is all alone (me, Doug, Ian, Zrbrt, and Lilo). When Doug is at work during the day, this means that I am caring for Ian by myself for the first time. This consists mostly of nursing, sleeping when I get a chance, and trying to squeeze in showers, meals, laundry, and blog postings when possible. Ian does not seem to be a big fan of sleep, but he usually takes at least one nap in the morning and one in the afternoon. It's been hard to get him to get to sleep at night this week (although once he falls asleep he'll sleep for 4-6 hours), so I'm using at least one of these nap times to catch up on sleep myself. I'm hoping his sleeping will become more regular in the next few weeks so that I have some time for cooking.
Here are some of the things Ian spends his time doing around the house.
1) Nursing - this is by far his favorite activity and seems to occupy much of our days (and nights). My mother tells me this is World Breastfeeding Week. Ian is happy to celebrate:
2) Exploring - he likes to look around and scootch across his blanket when he's alert. He needs something to push off of, like this:
It's a lot of effort for him, and sometimes he gets frustrated:
3) He gets dirty surprisingly quickly (mostly by spitting up in his hair), so sometimes he needs a bath. Here he is enjoying his elephant towel (thanks Aunt Julie) after his last bath:

Not sleeping at night? Sigh, I know he's too young to be predictable but I was hoping for an easier week for you especially now that you don't have help during the day. I know you can handle anything, though.
Where can I get a towel with an elephant trunk for myself??
I love that towel came in all different animals..costco had them...Ian looks so cute! I'll be praying for you guys this week! that you get the sleep that is needed for you to provide for Ian..and the rest of the gang...miss you SO SO SO much!
