OK, he's been six months old for a while (since 1/17). But we were too busy then moving out of the house to post, so here we are now. It seems like Ian has been with us for a long time, but it's also hard to believe that he's halfway to being a year old. He has certainly grown up a lot since he was born!
Ian has his 6 month checkup a few weeks ago. To our surprise, he had dropped on the growth chart from the 99th to the 90th percentile, weighing in at 20 lbs, 6 oz, and measuring 28 inches in length. We think maybe he will hit a growth spurt now that he's getting over his solid food strike (with the help of his new daycare caregivers -- sometimes a professional is helpful).
Developmentally Ian is doing very well. He is around normal in his communication, fine motor skills, and social development, and ahead on gross motor skills and problem solving. He sits up extremely well now and can get around, moving several feet in a few minutes when he's motivated by something he wants. He can pull himself up into a partial stand, and likes to stand with support (increasingly he puts his feet down to stand and refuses to bend into a sitting position).
One of Ian's new skills is clapping, and he is just starting to show signs of imitating us when we clap:
Here's the happy "crawler" - the leg he has tucked under himself is preventing him from getting to a full crawl position, so for now he just drags it along:
And here he is pulling himself up on me to grab the camera strap while I take pictures!:

Even if Ian has dropped percentiles, he is still almost as heavy or maybe heavier than Abby and she is almost a year older!
