Ian is seven months old today! He's definitely starting to grow up. His interests have changed, and he is starting to make his desires clear. Instead of going along with anything happily, he has begun protesting more specific things. Sometimes he wants Mommy and is not happy with anyone else (and now he can crawl over to me and pull on my jeans until I pick him up!). He gets upset if you take away the toy he was playing with (or the computer cords he was pulling). He wants to feed himself. Since he can get around, we can see what he has an interest in getting to. This is all good, since it shows that he is developing and moving into the next stage. But it's a little sad to see our baby move out of infancy and start to seem more toddlerlike.
Tonight I shared mealtime with Ian for the first time. Since Doug is in Charlotte on business, Ian and I went out to dinner between daycare and our church small group. We sat at the table together, Ian in his highchair. I had pizza, he had Cheerios. I was nice to spend some one-on-one time together interacting in a normal person-to-person type of way.
Here is one of Ian's recent new behaviors -- standing up in his crib when he's done with his nap (or refusing to take one):
And here he is riding his wooden firetruck with Grandma's help (he wasn't happy when she stopped!):
Now that he is older, Ian has a new, bigger carseat. It's much more comfortable for him, but a real pain to get him in and out of until it can be flipped to face forward (when he's a year old). Here he is enjoying the box:

You can save lots of money now that Ian has that giant box, he doesn't need anymore toys.
