Last Thursday night, Ian had his first visit to the hospital. He suddenly started vomiting repeatedly and violently, and we were concerned that he might be having a reaction to an antibiotic I had started taking the night before (he is allergic to penicillin). So we took the short drive over to the Duke ER. Mercifully, our wait in the main waiting area was very short. We were still looking around for a place that wasn't right on top of someone who looked like they were dying of something contagious when we were called. Babies must get priority (or perhaps it's people with insurance). Ian was diagnosed with a double ear infection and given anti-nausea medication. The doctor suspected a virus, which was confirmed by my getting sick shortly after. So all was well in the end, and hopefully we won't be back anytime soon.
Here Ian is showing off his favorite part of the trip, the bracelet:

Visits to the ER are no fun. Glad it all worked out OK. I'm sure it was scary at the time.
Gosh, that's scary. On our trip to Taiwan in January, Olivia had a fever of 104 for four days and I was so scared that it was something bad. Even though my father-in-law was a doctor, I still insisted that we take her to the hospital for blood tests and urine tests. Well, the next day she broke out in rashes -- it was roseola, which is pretty much harmless, except for the high fevers.
