A Lovely Saturday

Yesterday was a wonderful day for us. It started off with us getting our taxes done and walking through the house with our realtor to discuss the last few things to be done on the house. Then we spent the rest of the day enjoying ourselves. Grammie and Pa (McVey) were visiting on their way home from Florida. To take advantage of the gorgeous (70 degree) weather and to show them our new lifestyle, we took a walk downtown to get lunch (at the Blue Moon Cafe, one of candidate Obama's stops in NC).

All seven of us walked together the few blocks from the loft (that's two grandparents, two parents, one little boy, and two pit bulls):

Daddy waited with Ian and the doggies at the chess/lunch table while Grammie and Pa waited inside for our sandwiches:

There were some fun father and son moments:

As Doug likes to point out, this is a "real" downtown, with tall buildings like this one, which melted into the sky so nicely:

On the way home, Doug and the girls made themselves part of the cityscape by posing as a statue:

Uncle Greg arrived home at dinner time, and hung out with Ian so Doug and I could go out to dinner and a movie (Slumdog Millionaire), the perfect end to a lovely day.

(Walking totals:
To the sandwich shop and around downtown: 3 miles
Doug's round trip back downtown to the library later: 2 miles
To the restaurant, the movie theater, and home: 3 miles
Lots of exercise for the whole family!)
