11 Months Old

Ian is 11 months old today! And what a month it has been. In the last few weeks, Ian seems to have suddenly graduated from being a baby to being a toddler. He is taking little steps on his own now (although it's hard to get him to practice at home because he also has a lot of separation anxiety and often doesn't want me to put him down!). We're expecting him to take off any day. But more striking is his suddenly increased ability to understand and interact with the world. I'd like to document his new tricks on video, but until then here is a list:

- waving to people
- pointing at people and things
- taking hats on and off himself and other people
- yoddling by tapping his open hand against his mouth -- he also likes me to do this with my hand for him and can request it
- giving Mommy kisses (still quite sloppy)
- giving zrbrts (raspberry kisses) on our shoulders -- this is Doug's great delight!
- babbling very conversationally
- saying "oh!" when he notices things that interest him, or in response to someone talking
- taking steps (usually two, while slowly falling forward into the arms of whoever he's going towards)
- drinking on his own from his sippy cup

I'm sure I'm missing some. It was apparent when he Skyped with Grandma and Grandpa Allen tonight that he is a very different boy than he we last time (just a couple of weeks ago). He's really become quite fun, and we can see that we have a real person on our hands, not just a pseudo-human little baby!!
