On Friday night, Doug and I had to go to the wedding rehearsal and dinner. So Doug brought Ian to my building at the end of the day, where he was whisked off by co-workers Kirsten and Megan to co-worker Cathy's suprise 50th birthday party. I heard that he had a great time and was the life of the party, and was alternately mistaken for Megan's 5 month old son or Kirsten's 5 year old son (some people don't have a good sense of time).
On Saturday, Doug took Ian to Men's Warehouse to give me a chance to practice a little more. Doug was able to resist renting the baby boy sized tuxedo and came home only with a bow tie and studs for the manly man tuxedo, as planned. Next we headed towards Raleigh for the wedding, on the way dropping Ian off with our friend Kerry, where he had a great time playing and wagon-riding with Kerry and her two-year-old niece Kassidy.
After the wedding we picked Ian up and headed to the reception. As usual when our church crowd is involved, he was quickly taken off our hands and passed around so some of his favorite Evergreeners. They helped him fully experience the wedding, including sampling the chocolate fountain, checking out the acoustic guitar music, and, to his extreme delight, showering him with bubbles.
On Sunday we had the first meeting with the parents who are interested in the child care co-op we're trying to start. We had about half the parents able to make it, and got some good discussion going. We are moving forward with the next steps (currently I am trying to dissect the city zoning ordinances). There are several hurdles ahead, but we haven't run into an insurmountable one yet, so there's a chance we'll be opening downtown Durham's newest and coolest childcare facility sometime this fall. Ian was at the meeting, but was not his usual perfect public self, and Doug had to remove him outside a few times (really, I think he had his heart set on nursing, and wasn't happy until I obliged -- this is not a boy who is going to be weaned 6 weeks from now when he turns one!). When he wasn't fussing, he had a good time exploring the art studio we were meeting in and playing with a similarly aged girl who was there with her mom.
Here is an (admittedly fuzzy, snagged from Facebook) photo of Ian at the reception with nutty pastor Ed. Note that he is wearing an appropriately dressy button down shirt for the occassion (but not the baby boy tux!):

And here is an unrelated photo from last weekend in which Ian and Zrbrt are enjoying the chair:
