Double Uncle Special

After a fortnight or so of not seeing my nephew, I spent a much-anticipated four-day weekend with the lad. Elaine was here with us on the weekend, but on Friday and today he was all mine, and I taught him some essentials. He worked on standing, building with blocks, dancing, and ancient thatching techniques.

Today we went to the Durham Museum of Arts and Sciences, a 4-mile round trip of a walking journey! We made stops at our favorite park on the way there and back, just to kick back and enjoy our personalities. The museum was great, but the park ended up being the most photo-worthy (up until the point when I realized that the bottle cap on the milk had ruptured and breastmilk was taking advantage of capillary action as it soaked up through my backpack).

Here, of course, is a classic littlest-boy-in-the-world-on-a-blanket-island-in-a-sea-of-the-greenest-grass shot:

I know I'm really his biological uncle, because the shape of my left hand matches up with the shape of his face, similar to the pangea concept.

This may very well have been his first time eating cheerios from the side-angle.

My face is of particular interest to this little terror. He will pretend he's going for the beard, and then snag my glasses, or my hat, or vice versa. I never know where to put my guard up.

STANDING! I wish I had a better shot of this free-stand, but I wasn't quick enough with the camera to get a second vertical one before he had free-fallen.

This is a very sweet nap that we shared. He fell asleep in the carrier while I was walking along the road, so when I got to the park I just laid down, and he kept snoozing on my chest.
