Ian's Words

After a few months of the occasional work that would fade away again, Ian is not making steady progress in accumulating new words. This is his vocabulary:

"Nana" (nurse) -- by far his most clear and consistent word - no surprise! (and, although mama was his first clearly used word, it no longer seems necessary now that he has this one)
"Zzzzzzzzzzah" -- for Zrbrt and Lilo
"Ba-bah" (baby) -- he says this when we see babies in his books, when we pass other babies when we're out, or when he sees a picture of himself on the computer
"Dada" -- for Daddy, and Greg, but also for a lot of other things - in the past it was more exclusively for Daddy
"Woof" -- what the doggie says
"Ooooo" -- what the owl says
"Da" -- dog (and a good all-purpose word)
"Du" -- duck, not really distinguishable from dog except by context
"Meh" -- melon, one of Ian's favorite foods
"Dis" (this?) -- what he says when he points to something and wants it or to hear its name
"Ba" -- ball

Ian tries other words on occasion but so far they haven't stuck. He imitates words more readily now, although he sometimes seems unable to imitate certain sounds (no matter how many times I say Ga-ga-ga-greg, he still usually says "Dada!")

Abby still can't make a "Gr" sound either, much to the dismay of Grandma. She loves grapes so much she just settled for "dapes".
