An Anniversary with Ian

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary. We knew that our anniversary celebration would be a little different this year with the arrival of Ian. It was. Doug wanted to try to go out to dinner and leave Ian in the care of Aunt Julie. Ian really likes being held by Aunt Julie, except when he's desperately hungry, which is often the case. So instead of going out, Doug picked up dinner from our favorite Indian restaurant, we lit one of our wedding candles, and we ate at our kitchen table. Unfortunately Ian was not in a content state of mind during this time, so we heard his whimpers and cries from the Pack n' Play in the next room. When I finally went to bring him to the table, he spit up all over me. Twice. I am finding that these moments are best handled with a sense of humor. After a spicy dinner we decided to go out to our local frozen custard joint. Since Ian was starting to look hungry, we took him with us. This went better than dinner, and he was quite content to look around outside until I was on the second to last spoonful of my ice cream. All in all, it was not our most romatic anniversary, but we are still glad to be celebrating six happy years of marriage, now with a physical representation of our relationship in little Ian!
