Life Complications

As usual, it seems that life is not entirely cooperative. As we wait for the baby to arrive, we have discovered that our dog Zrbrt has a partially torn ACL. She will need surgery to fix this, which will then require her to be confined to a crate for an 8 week recovery. This alone will be a huge ordeal for both us and Zrbrt, not to mention the expense of the surgery. It's not something that should be put off for too long, because it will increase the chance of future arthritis. In any case, she'd have to be confined in the meantime to avoid tearing the ligament completely. Needless to say this is not the best timing for us. We're considering trying to schedule the surgery for the next few days, so our visiting family members can help us care for her during the first few weeks, while we're busy taking care of the baby. Oh, and the best news about this? She's extremely likely to tear the other one in the future . . .

Why does life seem to work this way? In addition to Zrbrt, my car's malfunction indicator just came on, while Doug's car is simultaneously under recall for a possible sudden engine failure. Sigh.
