Ian's First Walk

OK, he's not that precocious. He did NOT in fact walk at age 3 days. We (Elaine, her parents, and I) walked, pushing Ian in his stroller. Actually. it is no longer correct to say "stroller;" it, combined with the carseat, are now referred to as a "travel system." It was a gift from my business partner (thank you, Allan!). During our 15-minute walk, I generated nearly 100 pictures. I firmly believe in the "quantity" approach to photography. I pared them down to these (relatively) few:

Buckling Ian in with great care is my father-in-law, Quasimodo.

A motion shot where only the faces and the stroller are in focus.

Everything was going along just fine until my mother-in-law Janet began chanting, "Imhotep, Imhotep,..."

Elaine, grinning at my keen wit.

If you click on the image to view the larger version, you can clearly make out the Dead End sign and the black cat, as Ian and his entourage choose the other fork in the road. Very portentous! (Or not.)

Ian, buckled in tight. Look at the size of those hands!

In my burning quest for art photography amidst the dirty diapers and drool, I present for your consideration my latest photo portrait entitled "The Poor Man's Thomas Kinkade."

I'm really enjoying this blog. It seems like you are so happy and Ian is so lucky to have you two as parents. His first walk appears to have gone well, portentous in my book indeed.
