On a Date

Yesterday we left Ian with our friends Russ and Leslie (who have been offering to babysit for weeks), and went out on our first date post-baby. We spent the afternoon at the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Natural History museum in Raleigh, then went to an organic, locally grown ingredients pizza place. We had a whole wheat, cheese free, veggie filled pizza in accordance with Doug's standards. It was nice to have some time together without having to care for a baby or dogs. We picked up Ian after five hours, and heard that he had been a very easy charge and a voracious eater. So far everyone who has watched him for us seems to have enjoyed him, so hopefully we'll be able to do this again soon!

Good job parents. I think all too often new parents forget to take time for their relationship or are reluctant to spend time away from the baby because they are overprotective, especially with their firstborn.

I am so impressed at how well you are handling the transition to parenthood, and how you support each other. Really, I can't put it into words. You have my deepest admiration and compliments. Rock on.
