Warm Milk
Although Doug's first week with Ian started off well, it got increasingly frustrating for him as the week went on, culminating in my having to come home a little early from a board meeting Thursday night because Ian was screaming and wouldn't take a bottle. Fortunately, I was able to take him to work with me Friday, since we were having some social events in the afternoon, and because my boss is awesome. So Doug got a little break, but we were starting to worry that DaddyCare wasn't going to work out. But it seemed like the root of the problems was that Ian wasn't eating as much as we expected when he was with Doug, which left him fussy and difficult. We experimented over the weekend, and discovered that the secret is warm milk. At the suggestion of one of our books, we tried giving Ian milk straight from the fridge, which is obviously very convenient. It seemed to be working at first, but it didn't last. So, starting this Monday, Doug used the Hotshot to make a hot water bath to warm Ian's milk in his office. Bingo! So far, things have gone well this week (until today, when Ian drank all six of the bottles I left for him and got hungry again a little before I was due to pick him up . . . )
