Unthinkable
Every time we think we've got as much as we can possibly handle, something else comes along. It seemed unthinkable that Zrbrt could happen to need surgery (and post-op recovery assistance) on her ACL just as the baby was born. In fact, she was diagnosed a few hours before I went into labor, and had the surgery a week after Ian arrived. But it turns out that what is really unthinkable is that she would injure the other back leg just 2 months after the first surgery. Soon before I'm due to up my hours at work, but while I'm still not getting paid my regular salary. And it's much worse than the first one -- she was limping then, now she can't move at all. We're assuming that she's torn her right ACL (it's very common for dogs to tear the second one after they've torn the first). If not, it's something else that's serious. So here we are facing another expensive and time-consuming surgery. Poor Zrbrt. Poor parents.

I know what you mean. I often think it is just an illusion that we have any control over our lives whatsoever. Hang in there. At least you know what you are in for regarding the recovery.
