We Left Him

Doug is on a men's whitewater rafting trip this weekend, so in order for me to go to work today, we needed a babysitter. Enter Erin, our friend from church, soon-to-be-famous folk rock singer-songwriter, and long time daily dogwalker of Zrbrt, Lilo, and many a foster dog. I do realize that taking care of a baby is not the same as walking a dog, but Erin also has lots of babysitting experience and two much younger siblings. So I felt pretty good leaving Ian with her this morning. It's the first time we've left him for any extended period of time with a non-family member (not counting the nursery at church last weekend, where we were right there and checked on him several times during the hour). It went well -- he went on a nice stroller walk, drank six bottles of milk, and took a nap. Success.

Auntie Erin (as she is known to the girlie dogs):

(And if any of you are thinking that perhaps a guy should not leave his two-month old and wife home along just to go whitewater rafting, let me point out how well deserved this is: Doug gets up every morning around 5, takes care of the dogs, leaves for his office, gets a full day of hard work at kDy done before I arrive with Ian at 2, then entertains and cares for him until 6:30 when I get home, working more when Ian is napping. And he exercises during lunch and eats tons of vegetables. So hopefully he's having a good time rafting today and isn't 1) freezing, 2) sunburned, or 3) dead.)

p.s. Auntie Erin came to our house to see us and take us for a walk (clearly, because that is why she comes to our house), and instead she spent all her time with the baby and took him for a walk without us! Suck. -Zrbrt and Lilo

Btw, check it out on Auntie Erin's blog.

That is such a cute pic of Erin and Ian. He may have to be her new boyfriend, since Hedge lives so far away now.

Nicely done Erin. What a good wife you are eb, so understanding. That is a very nice picture of the two of them. I wish I was close enough to babysit from time to time...
