The Big Trip Home

On Sunday, Greg, Ian, and I left Syracuse to begin the big trip home. First stop: Grandma's (Binghamton, NY). It turns out we had quite a bit of stuff to bring, and the car was filled to the brim as we prepared to leave. Greg had to ride all the way to Binghamton with the apple crisp on his lap:

Grandma shared lots of the songs and rhymes she knows for babies:

Ian seems to enjoy being naked and getting very excited, pumping his arms and legs everywhere:

And making silly faces in the process:

Before we left on Monday, Greg finished installing gutter guards on Grandma's house, and I raked leaves. Just so we wouldn't miss the NY winter completely, snow started falling. We learned later on the news that this type of snow is called "gropple" - a soft form of hail. I think they must have made this up - how can three people who grew up in New York state never have heard of a kind of snow before?:

From Binghamton, we made the next leg of the journey to Baltimore, where I am attending a three day business meeting. Greg and Ian are getting a lot of bonding time together in the hotel, and also some nice evening dining experiences. So far Ian has behaved well in the restaurants. Thurday afternoon we'll be packing up once more and heading home to Raleigh!
